The Passive Hang - Episode 37 - Zack Finer - Lead Ape

Zack Finer (@z.finest.fridge) on the Passive Hang! Zack is Co-Owner and Teacher at Ape Co, a movement school in both Denver (@apeco_denver) and Boulder (@apeco_boulder), Colorado in the USA. I was super excited to get Zack on as he is a long time Ido Portal student and is now growing a thriving community - sharing movement in an exciting way.

Zack kindly shares his experience with finding Ido, how his training has evolved and developed over the years, how he approaches guiding students and thoughts on developing a mindset of practice. One thing that I really enjoyed was that there was no mysticism here - Zack has just put in a lot of hard work to learning - whether it be a 1 arm handstand or juggling a soccer ball 100 times. 

He talks a lot about the development of non-physical qualities from the practice -  attention to detail, pursuit of excellence, patience, commitment. It’s these type of qualities which I find transformative to the self over time - instilling a belief that even though you may suck at something, after dedicated practice… you can achieve things that other people may look on in wonder. This is what I see as the exciting potential of the culture - and it’s inspiring now to see dedicated movement schools(!) being built.
